Research Project: FAT TEST W911QY-21-P-0140-IHWCU Improving Biting Deterrence of Hot Weather Combat Uniforms

Location: Mosquito and Fly Research

Project Number: 6036-32000-052-100-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: May 1, 2022
End Date: Sep 30, 2022

Objective:
Testing of novel military fabrics treated with different pyrethroid formulations in arm-in-cage repellency studies in order to understand which formulations provide the most bite protection.

Approach:
Supplied treated fabrics will be tested on volunteers in arm-in-cage repellency assays under the IRB protocol #20193320. The number of mosquito bites acquired from each sample will be assessed and data will be relayed back to the US Army CCDC Soldier Center to develop new iterations of protective pyrethroid-treated fabrics.
