Research Project: National USDA Uniform Soybean Tests / Yield, Disease Resistance and Quality Traits Evaluation of Public Breeding Lines (CPPC)

Location: Crop Production and Pest Control Research

Project Number: 5020-21000-008-025-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2021
End Date: Sep 30, 2022

Objective:
Coordinate and participate in the Uniform Soybean Tests – Northern Region.

Approach:
The Uniform Soybean Tests is a cooperative testing program that is the main mechanism for U.S. public soybean breeders to obtain multi-state field data to support the release of varieties and germplasm. Separate tests for each of maturity groups from 00 to VIII will be conducted by ARS and Cooperators in appropriate locations across 19 US states and two Canadian provinces. The lines will be evaluated for yield, agronomic performance, disease resistance and quality traits. ARS in West Lafayette, IN, will coordinate the northern tests, analyze data and publish the results from the northern region in an annual report which will be made available as a hard copy and online. In addition, ARS will perform evaluations of maturities I, II, III and IV in Indiana and screen entries for the Rps gene for resistance to Phytophthora sojae.
