To determine the effect of soybean vein necrosis virus (SVNV) on plant productivity and evaluate soybean germplasm for resistance to SVNV and thrips.

1. Collect data on soybean thrip abundance in the suction trap network and tests selected thrip samples for SVNV. 2. Evaluate soybeans for resistance to both the soybean thrip and SVNV by infesting a wide range of soybean genotypes. 3. Use caged experiments to evaluate select soybean genotypes without stress and with stress (soybean thrip and SVNV) for plant productivity.
