Objective:
Develop new and improved cultivars/germplasm with optimum oil and protein content for the current marketplace.

Approach:
Map QTL in two RIL populations each with >200 lines by analyzing large amounts DNA marker data and phenotypic data on oil, protein, and agronomic traits including seed yield of data collected over two years (2018-2019). One or more manuscript will be written and submitted to journals by 2021. Also, enter 4-6 MG-V and VI high (>20.5%) oil lines in in the USDA regional trials; yield test more than 20 high oil (>24% DWB) advanced breeding lines for the 2nd or 3rd year in NC local trials; yield test 40 high oil lines for the first year. Test more than 200 plant rows, pull more than 500 single plants, advance more than 2000 F4 and 4000 F2 seeds, and make four cross combinations in FY21 for this project.
