Research Project: Discover and Deploy Novel Genes to Develop New Varieties and Germplasm with Elevated Meal Protein and Essential Amino Acids (MN)

Location: Soybean and Nitrogen Fixation Research

Project Number: 6070-21220-069-101-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2021
End Date: Sep 30, 2022

Objective:
Develop U.S. adapted high-yielding germplasm with >48% meal protein, =36% seed protein and >95% check yield and test environmental stability of seed protein

Approach:
Conventional and marker assisted breeding, genomics approaches will be used to achieve this objective. NIR technology will be used to measure protein, oil and amino acids.
