Objective:
To characterize the cellular mechanisms involved in the non-sporulation resistance to the orange rust disease in sugarcane through microscopic observation of Puccinia kuehnii infection.
Approach:
Characterize the specific cellular features participating in the non-sporulation resistance, we will apply thorough histological observations under light, confocal laser scanning, and electron (scanning and transmission) microscopes to comparatively reveal plant and fungal cell features and critical events of resistance during orange rust infection.
