Research Project: National USDA Uniform Soybean Tests / Yield, Disease Resistance and Quality Traits Evaluation of Public Breeding Lines

Location: Crop Production and Pest Control Research

Project Number: 5020-21000-008-020-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2020
End Date: Sep 30, 2021

Objective:
Coordinate and participate in the Uniform Soybean Tests – Northern Region, to obtain multi-state field data to support the release of varieties and germplasm.

Approach:
The Uniform Soybean Tests is a cooperative testing program that is the main mechanism for U.S. public soybean breeders to obtain multi-state field data to support the release of varieties and germplasm. Separate tests for each of maturity groups from 00 to VIII will be grown in appropriate locations across 19 US states and two Canadian provinces. The lines will be evaluated for yield, agronomic performance, disease resistance, and quality traits. the ARS in Stoneville, MS, will coordinate the southern tests. Data will be analyzed the results in an annual report, which will be available as a hard copy and online.
