Location: Soybean and Nitrogen Fixation Research
Project Number: 6070-21220-069-085-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Oct 1, 2020
End Date: Sep 30, 2021
Objective:
Develop drought-tolerant cultivars adapted to locations in Georgia and other drought-prone U.S. environments that will aid farmers with variety choices and guide new public-private breeding efforts to fix the drought problem.
Approach:
Quantify drought tolerant germplasm with respect to yield and determine the yield response to drought stress. Perform Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) mapping for root length to further determine the impact of rooting on the drought tolerance and develop DNA markers for selection.
