Research Project: Spatial repellent products for protection of individual and garrisoned soldiers from biting arthropods

Location: Mosquito and Fly Research

Project Number: 6036-32000-052-096-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Dec 7, 2020
End Date: Sep 30, 2021

Objective:
To develop novel passive delivery devices of spatial repellents for the protection of individual and garrisoned U.S. military soldiers from biting arthropods.

Approach:
Transfluthrin (TF) treated military bootlaces and custom designed tent entrance protective devices constructed from TF-containing multi-lumen polymer tubes will be evaluated. These studies will be conducted with colony reared species of mosquitoes at CMAVE in small cages, semi-field cages and against natural populations at local field study sites.
