Research Project: Breeding Scab Resistant and Low DON Winter Wheat and Barley Varieties for the Great Plains

Location: National Programs

Project Number: 0500-00053-005-44-G
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: May 15, 2020
End Date: May 14, 2021

Objective:
The objectives of this research are: 1) use traditional breeding methods to provide malting barley and hard winter wheat varieties with enhanced FHB resistance to growers in the Montana and 2) use genomic approaches to improve and optimize breeding for FHB resistance.

Approach:
The researcher will conduct traditional and molecular breeding methods to improve FHB resistance in malting barley and hard winter wheat for the state of Nebraska.
