Research Project: Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP) Benchmark Watershed Assessment Studies for 2020

Location: Hydrology and Remote Sensing Laboratory

Project Number: 8042-13610-030-006-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 1, 2020
End Date: Sep 30, 2021

Objective:
The overall objective is to characterize watershed processes that affect the fate of nutrients, agrochemicals, dissolved organic matter, total suspended particles, and other water quality parameters. Data will be compiled with remotely-sensed and GIS data and data from other agencies. Results will be used to improve watershed modeling efforts across in the Choptank River watershed and in watersheds throughout the U.S.

Approach:
Samples will be collected from subwatersheds and subbasins of the Choptank River and other CEAP watersheds. Water quality data will be monitored at two USGS gage stations in the Choptank River watershed using in situ optical sensors. Samples will be processed and analyzed. Mapping exercise will be carried out using remotely-sensed data and information from various GIS platforms.
