The objectives of the proposal are to 1) Develop genetic mapping populations segregating for fruit texture and juiciness 2) Phenotype grape germplasm for fruit quality traits 3) Identify molecular markers associated with fruit texture and juiciness.
We propose to phenotype grape breeding germplasm and individual clusters from a segregating mapping population for texture chewiness, and springiness) and juiciness using a Kramer Shear cell equipped to a universal testing machine (UTM).
