Research Project: CIF - Characterization and Genetics of Meloidogyne Incognita & Rotylenchulus Reniformis Resistance

Location: Genetics and Sustainable Agriculture Research

Project Number: 6064-21000-016-015-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 1, 2020
End Date: Dec 31, 2020

Objective:
The objective of the proposed research is to identify and characterize potential new sources of cotton resistance to root-knot and reniform nematode.

Approach:
New sources of cotton resistance to root-knot and reniform nematode will be identified among wild accessions previously identified as putatively resistant. These accessions will be genotyped with molecular markers linked to known resistance loci. Accessions that show resistance and that lack known markers will be further characterized to identify new resistance Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL).
