Research Project: Discover Sources, Genes, and Develop New Varieties and Germplasm with Improved Meal Protein Utilizing Diversity in Cultivated and Wild Soybeans (MO)

Location: Soybean and Nitrogen Fixation Research

Project Number: 6070-21220-069-053-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2019
End Date: Sep 30, 2020

Objective:
Develop soybean cultivars and germplasm with higher seed protein content, competitive yield and oil content compared to elite cultivars.

Approach:
Harvest and process all materials from 2019 fields and release promising lines, if supported by 2019 data. Continue testing new lines with high yield potential and high protein levels in the USDA Uniform Tests, Regional Protein Diversity Tests, and Missouri advanced and preliminary tests; Continue making new crosses with elite materials and new high protein germplasm.
