Research Project: Blanchard CEAP Paired Watershed Assessment

Location: Soil Drainage Research

Project Number: 5080-13210-002-37-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Nov 1, 2019
End Date: Aug 31, 2020

Objective:
Assess the watershed scale water quality impacts of implementing conservation management practices in subwatersheds of the Blanchard River watershed.

Approach:
A paired watershed approach will be used to assess the watershed scale impacts of wide-spread conservation practice implementation. One watershed will be held as a control or representing prevailing practices while the second will implement conservation practices through various NRCS and state programs. Real time and Automated water quality sampling devices will be installed to measure the water quality signatures resulting from the different watersheds and that data will be correlated with the types and extent of practices within each watershed.
