Research Project: Role of N-Linked Glycosylation in the In Transmission and Differentiation of CWD Prions

Location: Virus and Prion Research

Project Number: 5030-32000-228-012-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2019
End Date: Aug 31, 2021

Objective:
Evalute the potential role of glycosylation in transmission and differentiation of CWD prions.

Approach:
Glycans from PrPSc of the CWD agent will be isolated, purified, and analyzed using mass spectrometry. The results will be compared between normal and abnormal CWD proteins to determine if glycan content is correlated with infectivity and/or strain differences of the CWD prions.
