Research Project: Control Release Devices for Optimized Cattle Protection

Location: Arthropod-borne Animal Diseases Research

Project Number: 3020-32000-018-07-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jun 1, 2019
End Date: Jul 2, 2021

Objective:
Cooperator will develop prototypes as first phase development of controlled release devices based for sustained delivery of spatial repellents for protection of cattle against biting insects.

Approach:
Cooperator will utilize analytical models and numerical methods based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) combined with experimental analytical chemistry to characterize release rates and dispersion of spatial repellents for prototyped devices. Devices will be prototyped using 3D printing technology and thereafter assembled with optimal formulation of active ingredient (AI).
