Research Project: Developing a Multi Life-stage Management Strategy for Apple Maggot Through the Integration of Attract-and-kill and Biological Control

Location: Fruit and Tree Nut Research

Project Number: 6042-22000-023-11-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2018
End Date: Aug 31, 2021

Objective:
1. Virulence screening of entomopathgenic nematodes to tephritid flies impacting orchard crops. 2. Adapt use of entomopathogenic nematodes to apply to orchard situations for tephritid fly control.

Approach:
1. Approximately 10 strains of entomopathogenic nematodes will be screened in the laboratory for virulence to various tephritid fly stages. 2. Field experiments will be implemented based on approaches used for plum curculio control.
