Research Project: Combating the Threat of Fusarium Wilt to Cotton Production and Sustainability in the U.S. and Uzbekistan

Location: OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH ENGAGEMENT AND COOPERATION

Project Number: 0210-22310-007-15-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Apr 1, 2019
End Date: Mar 31, 2022

Objective:
Improve understanding of the cotton Fusarium pathogen, and provide access to potentially resistant cotton varieties and to new pathogen samples and cotton germplasm.

Approach:
Identify FOV-resistant cotton germplasm; develop recommendations for cotton breeding programs of the U.S. and Uzbekistan; identify genetic markers for resistance/tolerance to the pathogen; allow researchers to better understand the pathogen’s origins and its mode of infection.
