Objective:
Establish a formal mechanism that enables the development and maintenance of a Landscape Monitoring Framework to provide scientifically credible and relevant information about the condition and trend of public lands at multiple scales and to conduct landscape monitoring in accordance with scientifically-developed statistical principles, procedures, practices and quality assurance processes.

Approach:
1. Develop and manage sample design for the Landscape Monitoring Framework by: conducting overall survey design and management of statistical processes for BLM surveys; longitudinal sampling design for BLM managed lands; Data collection methodologies that support estimation procedures designed to support LMF goals; statistical methods for producing estimates of status and trends for rangeland conditions on BLM-managed lands and that can be integrated with related Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) estimates. 2) Conduct research into appropriate methodologies for LMF surveys and goals of integration with NRI and AIM data. 3) Support collaborations as needed with other entities (BLM, NRCS)
