Research Project: Development of Tent Entrance Protective Devices

Location: Mosquito and Fly Research

Project Number: 6036-32000-050-088-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Feb 1, 2019
End Date: Aug 30, 2019

Objective:
To assist in the development of novel passive delivery devices of spatial repellents for the protection of individual and garrisoned U.S. military soldiers from biting arthropods.

Approach:
Transfluthrin (TF) treated military bootlaces and custom designed tent entrance protective devices constructed from TF-containing multi-lumen polymer tubes will be evaluated. These studies will be conducted with colony reared species of mosquitoes at Center for Medical, Agricultural and Veterinary Entomology (CMAVE) in small cages, semi-field cages and against natural populations at local field study sites.
