The Wheat Productivity Enhancement Project (WPEP) aims to enhance and protect the productivity of wheat by supporting research that leads to the identification and adoption of new, high-yielding, disease-resistant wheat varieties in all wheat-growing regions in Pakistan.

USDA has partnered with the International Center for Maize and Wheat Improvement (CIMMYT), U.S. Land-Grant Universities, and 11 Pakistani Partner Institutions at 17 locations across Pakistan to develop, test, and distribute to farmers new high-yielding, rust-resistant wheat varieties.
