Research Project: Discovery and Deployment of Novel Genes for Durable Resistance to Multiple Nematode Populations in Soybean

Location: Crop Genetics Research

Project Number: 6066-21220-013-023-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2018
End Date: Sep 30, 2019

Objective:
1. Identify new sources of resistance and introgress resistance genes into desirable agronomic backgrounds. 2. Phenotype mapping populations in greenhouse using cultured nematode populations for developing new DNA markers. 3. Curate nematode populations in the greenhouse.

Approach:
Screen soybean germplasm from USDA collection for nematode resistance using standardized methods in the greenhouse, phenotype mapping populations from collaborators using curated nematode populations and improve Marker Assisted Selection method.
