Research Project: Genomic Selection in Wheat

Location: Plant Science Research

Project Number: 6070-22000-018-021-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Nov 1, 2018
End Date: Dec 31, 2019

Objective:
Objectives include: 1) Select superior Fusarium head blight (FHB) resistant parents for crossing. 2) Collaborate to develop genomic selection models for FHB resistance. 3) Evaluate advanced lines in screening nursery. 4) Collaborate to develop genomic selection models for grain yield and test weight.

Approach:
Genotypic and phenotypic data will be used to select best parents for crossing and for progeny selection using genomic selection, with confirmation done by multi-location testing. Collaborative testing nurseries are grown and evaluated in inoculated nurseries to obtain data for cultivar development, parent selection and for genomic selection studies. Results will be communicated to collaborators and to growers as appropriate.
