Research Project: Domestic Crop Composition Survey and Perspective Using Samples Provided by USDA-NASS and FIRST from Crop Year 2018

Location: Functional Foods Research

Project Number: 5010-41000-167-14-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2018
End Date: Sep 30, 2019

Objective:
To analyze composition data based on the near infrared (NIR) analysis of soybean samples provided by USDA-National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) and Farmers Independent Research of Seed Technologies (FIRST) from the 2018 crop.

Approach:
The goal of this project includes NIR analysis of up to 1,400 soybean samples provided by USDA-NASS and FIRST from their 2018 survey, and analysis of compositional results from this sample set. ARS will select a limited number of samples using NIR for follow-up analysis by wet chemistry.
