Research Project: Biocontrol with Benefits: Enhancing Sustainability by Adding Value

Location: Fruit and Tree Nut Research

Project Number: 6042-22000-023-09-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Apr 1, 2018
End Date: Feb 28, 2021

Objective:
Upon application of entomopathogenic nematodes for peachtree borer control determine: 1. If entomopathogenic nematodes contribute to suppression of plant-parasitic nematodes in peaches. 2. If entomopathogenic nematodes contribute to controlling various root-feeding weevils found in peaches.

Approach:
The nematode Steinernema carpocapsae will be applied for peachtree borer control. Subsequently efficacy in controlling peachtree borer, plant parasitic nematodes and root-weevils will be assessed. The location of these experiments will be the University of Florida.
