The workshop will examine how diet and the microbiome affects physiological outcomes with a focus on bone health at the American Society of Bone Mineral Research (ASBMR) with the Nutrition Working Group. There will be discussion of what foods are needed to achieve changes in the microbiome, and to determine knowledge gaps. We will explore existing data and assess whether healthy whole foods affect bone and can reduce risk of osteoporosis and whether this deserves greater consideration compared to the traditional approach of addressing specific macro or micronutrients.
Bring together a national and international group from academia, industry and government to discuss how whole foods affect the microbiome and bone health and future nutrition research directions in the field.
