The objective of this agreement is to seamlessly integrate STEM education into the research and outreach programs of the Grazinglands Research Laboratory in order to grow the future workforce, build regional capacity in STEM education, and engage students from diverse backgrounds into STEM careers. Additionally, experiential learning and research and curriculum development will leverage and enrich long-term agroecosystem and climate research and outreach.

The BlueSTEM AgriLearning Center (BARC), a 501(3)c organization, will work closely with ARS to 1) maintain ties between ARS and the El Reno Public School District, other area schools, and other K-12 educators, 2) host high school research classes and coordinate mentoring partnerships to ARS scientists, 3) maintain a teaching garden, 4) conduct teacher training workshops, 4) develop curriculum that incorporates agroecological research findings and are compliant with state education standards, 5) engage in science communication to diverse audiences, and 6) host informal education opportunities for youth groups and families.
