Research Project: Assessing Edge-of-Field Water Quantity and Quality Response from Different Agricultural Management Practices

Location: Soil Drainage Research

Project Number: 5080-13210-002-27-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jun 11, 2018
End Date: Jun 10, 2019

Objective:
The objectives are to support current edge-of-field research to assess the impact of agricultural management in tile drained landscapes through: 1) populating and running the DRAINMOD simulation model to assess drainage water management practice, 2) conduct a detailed water budget from EOF sites to inform water management scenarios, 3) provide agronomic assessment of soil test P and crop yield, and 4) provide guidance to assessment of various EOF practices (e.g., P filters).

Approach:
The cooperator will utilize existing EOF data and supplemental resources to populate the model. Existing EOF data will be used to conduct a water balance of for each site and to assess the potential agronomic relationships between soil test P and productivity.
