Research Project: Identification and Durability of Novel Sources of Resistance to Pierce’s Disease in Table and Raisin Grape

Location: Crop Diseases, Pests and Genetics Research

Project Number: 2034-21220-007-11-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Apr 15, 2018
End Date: Jun 30, 2019

Objective:
Evaluate table grape cultivars, breeding lines, and related species for response to Xylella fastidiosa infection.

Approach:
1) Screening Vitis germplasm, table, and raisin grape cultivars for susceptibility to two strains of Xylella fastidiosa. 2) Evaluating resistant material for resistance durability to a panel of Xylella fastidiosa isolates representing the diversity in the San Joaquin Valley, California. 3) Disseminating research results to growers and industry through written and oral communication.
