Objective:
Build calibrations for soybean constituents and build an in-house database to support farmers to analyze and define the value of their products.

Approach:
Initially a series of samples will be collected from the USDA germplasm collection, as well as approximately 7000 samples from the FIRST 2017 crop program. Soybean seeds will be scanned using near infrared technology (NIR). Samples for further evaluation will be selected based on NIR prediction models that indicate low levels of raffinose/stachyose content and other parameters, which will then be assayed for carbohydrate composition and amino acid composition. The Initial NIR evaluations will be provided to the Cooperator, seed distributers, and breeders. A selection of 200-400 samples will be evaluated and chemical compositions will be confirmed.
