Research Project: Development of Wearable Controlled Release Dispensers (W-CRD) Year 3

Location: Mosquito and Fly Research

Project Number: 6036-32000-050-74-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Oct 4, 2017
End Date: Sep 30, 2018

Objective:
Develop wearable controlled release dispensers (W-CRDs) to contain substances that protect individuals from mosquito bites.

Approach:
Based on results from collaborative work in Years 1 and 2, GearJump will design, simulate, manufacture and optimize the devices for controlled release of pesticides. The wearable controlled release dispensers (W-CRDs) will be tested for personal and field use as the next generation of protection. GearJump will focus on integrating all part with manufacturing for devices. This will consist of the manufacture of prototypes and subsequently fabrication of devices for large volume (200-1,000 units) using injection molding. GearJump will develop, package and deliver final devices to the USDA and assist as needed with testing the devices.
