Research Project: Production of Monoclonal Antibodies to Swine Viruses

Location: Virus and Prion Research

Project Number: 5030-32000-118-018-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2018
End Date: Aug 31, 2020

Objective:
Develop antibodies to detect proteins of interest in swine viruses.

Approach:
Immunogens of interest will be selected by ARS. The immunogens will be expressed, either as proteins in large quantities by biochemical means or by synthesizing peptides of that protein. Rabbit polyclonal antibody as well as several monoclonal antibodies will be generated. Mice will be inoculated with the protein of interest to mount an antibody response to the protein and monoclonal antibodies will be prepared to the protein of interest. Antibodies will be tested for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunofluorescence.
