Location: Insect Behavior and Biocontrol Research
Project Number: 6036-22000-030-042-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Jan 1, 2018
End Date: Mar 6, 2020
Objective:
To determine population levels of fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) in agricultural habitats throughout sub-Saharan Africa using sex pheromone-baited traps.
Approach:
Pheromone traps and lures will be purchased from a U.S. company and shipped to the Cooperator. The Cooperator will place traps in different agricultural habitats and monitor populations by collecting, initially identifying, and counting moths. Captured moths will be returned to the U.S. where they will be officially identified and genetically analyzed for host strain and migratory haplotype.
