To obtain analytical nutrient values for a representative nationwide sampling of the most commonly consumed types of retail fluid cow’s milk, and use these nutrient values to update ARS FooDS, the USDA food composition database.
This project will support nationwide sampling of fluid milk of different fat content, using National Food and Nutrient Analysis Program’s standardized procedures. Approaches to be used include – develop a sampling plan for the product; obtain samples nationwide and ship to commercial labs; ship quality control material to commercial labs; review and check laboratory data using established quality control procedures, and add data to the ARS Food Data System (ARS FooDS).
