Research Project: Developing Genetic and Molecular Resources to Improve Spinach Production and Management

Location: Crop Improvement and Protection Research

Project Number: 2038-21530-002-014-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2017
End Date: Jun 30, 2022

Objective:
Diversify the genetic base of resistance to diseases and develop new resistant spinach cultivars.

Approach:
We will develop spinach populations for the identification and mapping of molecular markers linked to disease resistance, study the inheritance of the traits, and transfer these traits to new spinach cultivars through spinach breeding.
