Research Project: Genetic Characterization and Selection for Fusarium Head Blight Resistance in Durum Wheat

Location: National Programs

Project Number: 0500-00053-004-039-G
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Aug 1, 2017
End Date: Jul 31, 2020

Objective:
1) develop and utilize genomic selection model to accelerate genetic improvement of FHB resistance in durum wheat synthetic population and 2) identify major QTL of FHB resistance to facilitate marker-assisted selection.

Approach:
Develop the founding synthetic population, i.e. 200 half-sib families. We will evaluate FHB resistance of the 200 half-sib families and conduct one cycle phenotypic selection. The founding synthetic population will be genotyped and served as training population to develop and validate GS models.
