Objective:
Develop new water supply forecasting technology capable of simulating the effects of changing climatic conditions on snow water balance in the Sierra Nevada Mountains usable by a variety of water supply managers.

Approach:
The iSnobal model will be coupled with a PRMS like soil bucket hydrology model. Calibration procedures will then be developed for the resultant hydrology model involving testing various calibration methods applicable for the model complexity and computational resources. The hydrology model will be tested over the Tuolumne and American River Basins for a period of 10-15 years. A model interface will be developed requiring a web interface in Django with extensive Javascript programming and data visualization. The web interface will link to the underlying model development code written mainly in Python and C so that developed software can run on any computer utilizing very large datasets.
