Research Project: Quantifying Efficacies Associated with Systems-Approaches to Insect Pest Control

Location: Commodity Protection and Quality Research

Project Number: 2034-43000-040-047-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: May 17, 2017
End Date: May 16, 2019

Objective:
Increase the utilization of systems approaches to mitigate risk of quarantine insects, thereby decreasing the use of insecticides and postharvest fumigants.

Approach:
Using a cooperative effort between USDA-ARS, USDA-APHIS, University of California at Davis, and California industry, develop a tool for use by regulatory end-users to evaluate existing or proposed systems approaches and to develop new systems approaches. A key feature of this work will be to assist in determination of critical needs for data to support development or evaluation of systems approaches.
