Location: Forage and Range Research
Project Number: 2080-21000-018-022-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Sep 15, 2017
End Date: Sep 14, 2022
Objective:
Sequence DNA from key forage, range, and turf plants of the western U.S. to document genetic diversity and genetic identity of cultivars; identify functionally important genes; and predict the breeding value of individual genotypes.
Approach:
DNA samples from experimental populations and applied breeding programs are purified, concentrated, genotyped, and sequenced. The resulting data are processed through a pipeline of bioinformatics software using multi-processor computer workstations and clusters.
