Research Project: Identification and Knock-Down of Pesticide Resistance Genes in Colorado Potato Beetle

Location: Vegetable Crops Research

Project Number: 5090-21220-005-014-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2017
End Date: Aug 31, 2020

Objective:
Determine candidate neonicotinoid resistance genes in populations of Colorado potato beetle (CPB)

Approach:
Population genomic analyses will be performed to compare resistant and susceptible CPB populations. Gene expression data will be integrated to identify putative gene networks underlying resistance. RNAseq data will be analyzed for up-regulation of specific genes in resistant vs. susceptible CPB populations. Select candidate resistance genes will be tested for phenotypic effects using RNAi knockdown experiments.
