Research Project: Collaborative Research to Study Diet-Genetic Interactions: Absorption and Metabolism of Phytonutrients from Different Brassica Vegetables

Location: Food Components and Health Laboratory

Project Number: 8040-51000-056-21-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2017
End Date: Aug 31, 2018

The objective of this research is to collaborate to characterize the biological response of cancer biomarkers to dietary exposure of plant foods, including Brassica vegetables, blackberries, and garlic in humans.

Human intervention studies will be conducted with naturally occurring constituents of or the test food or component, including fruits, vegetables, and edible plant materials (e.g., spinach, kale, other Brassica vegetables). Outcomes will include biomarkers of cancer risk.
