Research Project: Distinct Regulatory Functions of the TRI6 and TRI10 Genes in DON Biosynthesis

Location: National Programs

Project Number: 0500-00053-004-34-G
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Jun 1, 2017
End Date: May 31, 2021

Objective:
Determine the functional relationship between TRI6 and TRI10 and characterize molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of DON production by pH, nitrogen metabolism, and cAMP signaling.

Approach:
Further characterize the interaction between TRI6 and TRI10. Identify the Tri10-binding sites and characterize its possible non-TF function in the toxisome. Use site-directly mutagenesis approach to determine the role of conserved PacC-binding sites in the TRI6 and TRI10 promoters.
