Research Project: Phytosanitary Irradiation for High Impact Invasive Species

Location: Tropical Crop and Commodity Protection Research

Project Number: 2040-43000-017-23-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Apr 1, 2017
End Date: Sep 30, 2017

Objective:
To develop phytosanitary irradiation treatments for quarantine insects such as western flower thrips.

Approach:
Develop rearing methods, compare radiation tolerance of life stages found in/on commodity, identify most tolerant stage, large-scale testing with potential dose against most tolerant life stage.
