Research Project: Molecular Interactions Between Rhizobacteria and Wheat Under Water Stress

Location: Wheat Health, Genetics, and Quality Research

Project Number: 2090-22000-017-06-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Apr 1, 2017
End Date: Mar 31, 2020

Objective:
To understand how rhizobacteria maintain physiological activity and tight mutualistic interactions with their plant hosts in water-stressed soils.

Approach:
The proposed studies will usa a combination of functional genomics, bioinformatics, metabolomics, and plant-based assays to chraacterize cellular pathways, physiological responses, and selective forces that underlie the establishment of the unusually tight mutualistic interaction between 2-79 and wheat under conditions of water stress.
