Research Project: Investigation of Migratory Moth Agricultural Pests with Genetic Markers

Location: Insect Behavior and Biocontrol Research

Project Number: 6036-22000-030-18-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Mar 1, 2017
End Date: Feb 28, 2020

To investigate the dispersion, migration, and mating behaviors of invasive noctuid moth species to facilitate the identification and assessment of regions at risk.

Genetic markers and techniques developed by USDA-ARS will be used to investigate population behaviors of moth species collected by cooperators. The project will utilize strategies already demonstrated to be effective in mapping migration pathways and hybridization between genetically distinct populations.
