Research Project: Cotton Seed Increases at the Costa Rican Counter Season Nursery

Location: Crop Germplasm Research

Project Number: 3091-21000-041-004-G
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Oct 1, 2016
End Date: Sep 30, 2021

Objective:
To increase seed stocks of critical accessions of the U.S. National Cotton Germplasm Collection, and to meet seed increase needs of researchers at other ARS locations.

Approach:
The counter season (winter) nursery located in Costa Rica will provide the services for the seed increases. Seed by ARS researchers will be shipped to the cooperator in Costa Rica, will be planted and ultimately harvested to increase seedstocks. The seed will be appropriately processed by the cooperator and shipped to the appropriate ARS researcher. Payment for services rendered will be based upon the number of "hills" planted as requested by the ARS researcher.
