Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is to provide support to the U.S. National Cotton Germplasm Collection to improve efficiency of operation and provide enhanced service to users.

Approach:
ARS provides seed and leaf tissue of cotton accessions to the cotton research community to meet its mission of preserving and distributing cotton accessions from the U.S. Cotton Germplasm Collection. Equipment and facility improvements for the Cotton Germplasm Collection will benefit the entire U.S. cotton industry. The agreement will support modernization of key infrastructure components so as to enhance efficiency of operations and more effectively serve the needs of Collection users. Potential areas of focus include improvements in seed production systems, seed processing systems, acid de-linting, ginning, and seed storage/preservation systems.
