Research Project: Investigating the Potential of Ethanedinitrile as a Replacement for Soil Fumigation with Methyl Bromide

Location: Citrus and Other Subtropical Products Research

Project Number: 6034-22000-043-017-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2016
End Date: Jul 31, 2020

Objective:
This project will investigate the performance of Ethanedinitrile as an alternative to methyl bromide for control of soil-borne plant pathogens, plant pathogenic nematodes, and weeds.

Approach:
Field trials will be conducted over two years in two locations in which ethanedinitrile will be applied. Soil and plant samples will be collected from treated areas and analyzed for nematode populations in roots and soil, and root disease caused by parasitic nematodes.
