Research Project: High-Impact Public Research for Modified Carbohydrate Composition in U.S Soybeans

Location: Plant Genetics Research

Project Number: 5070-21000-040-06-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2016
End Date: Sep 30, 2018

Objective:
Research to support the enhanced nutritional energy meal trait for U.S. soybeans.

Approach:
ARS will conduct research on the development of soybean materials to be tested in the upgraded poultry feeding experiments with existing sources of modified carbohydrate soybean germplasm. In addition, ARS will conduct research on the discovery aspect of the project to identify and characterize improved genetic sources for the enhanced nutritional energy meal (ENEM/modified carbohydrate) trait. We will also finalize the environmental stability project and support the molecular marker component for efficient breeding efforts in other aspects of the project.
